New Lecturer in Old Testament appointed

September 12, 2025 by Moore College

Last night the Governing Board approved the Principal’s nomination of the Rev Jack Day to join the Moore College Faculty as a lecturer in Old Testament from January next year. Jack is a graduate of the College who is just completing a PhD in Old Testament at Cambridge University. Before embarking on this study he was serving as an assistant minister at St Paul’s Carlingford.

Jack is married to Katie and they have three children, Oscar (7), Heidi (5) and Max (3) with another due in late December. While they have been in Cambridge they have been active and much-loved members of All Saints, Little Shelford.

Jack says,

“It’s a privilege to be asked to join the faculty and I am thankful for the opportunity! I’m excited about playing a role in helping students to trust and treasure the Old Testament, and as a family, we are looking forward to being a part of the warm fellowship of the College community once again.”

The Principal, Dr Mark Thompson, is enthusiastic about Jack’s appointment.

“Jack is a fine scholar, a good teacher, and a wonderful pastor. Those in the churches he has served in Sydney and in Cambridge testify to the delightful Christian man that he is and the very significant contribution the entire family have made. We are very much looking forward to having him back at College and using his gifts for the benefit of our students and the glory of Christ.”
