HomeFacultyThe Rev Dr Tony Payne

The Rev Dr Tony Payne

Director, Centre for Christian Living.
Theology, Philosophy and Ethics Department.

Qualifications: BA Communications (NSWIT); BTh Hons (Moore); PhD (Moore).

Through his writing and speaking, Tony has spent many decades seeking to bring biblical thinking to bear on Christian life and ministry. His doctoral research was about how the one-another word ministry of everyday Christians serves a vital theological and moral purpose with Christian communities. His interests outside theology, ethics and writing include golf, most football codes and reading.

Family: Tony is married to Ali. They have five adult children (Gemma, Chloe, Miri, Luke and Nick), and nine (soon to be ten) grandchildren.

Research interests: the place and use of the Bible in moral deliberation, the nature of Christian communities and congregations, and the theological ethics of word ministry in all its forms.
