Recorded on 8 October 2025 at the Donald Robinson Library, Moore College
Pamela Summers, long-standing committee member of the Huguenot Society of Australia, traces the dramatic history of the Huguenots — French Protestants who followed the teachings of John Calvin and endured centuries of persecution for their faith.
In this engaging presentation, Pamela explores the rise of the Reformation in France, the courage of those who worshipped in secret during the “Desert” years, and the tragic events of the St Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. She also follows the extraordinary journeys of Huguenot refugees who fled France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685, finding new homes in England, the Netherlands, South Africa, America — and eventually Australia.
The talk concludes with a look at the Huguenot legacy today, including the preservation of the Society’s remarkable library and archive collection—now housed at the Donald Robinson Library at Moore College.
Presented by the Huguenot Society of Australia in partnership with the Donald Robinson Library, Moore College.
