Michael Aitken

Michael Aitken

June 13, 2025 by Moore College

Graduated 1997.

From boarding school chapel services to parish ministry and now Anglicare, Michael Aitken’s journey has been marked by a growing heart for the vulnerable. After studying at Moore College in 1997 and serving in churches across Sydney, Michael now helps connect churches with opportunities to care for those on the margins—refugees, the elderly, and those in need. Through word and deed, he’s helping churches across the city share the good news of Jesus in practical, powerful ways.

Moore PTC Graduation: Over 80 Graduates Celebrate Growth in Faith and Understanding

June 10, 2025 by Moore College

If you ever feel like you need encouragement to study your Bible make sure you attend the next PTC Graduation! At the latest graduation at the end of May each graduate, whether they have finished six or twenty of the PTC subjects, witnessed to the great impact the PTC has had on their understanding of God’s word, the growth in their love for God and their ability to share that love with others. Men and women came from across Sydney, NSW and even overseas to share this important milestone with friends, family and brothers and sisters in Christ.

One graduate, Michelle, who has now graduated at the highest level of PTC shared, “PTC has given me the confidence to take on responsibilities in my church that I might not have been confident to take on before, because I know that I’ve got a basic idea of how things fit together and I can understand the first principles.”

Congratulations to the over 80 graduates of the PTC this year! We pray that God will continue to grow your hunger for great teaching and that your love for Him will blossom as you spend time deeply in His Word.

His prayer is for more workers and more churches equipped to reflect that beautiful diversity.

Simon Gillham returns to the Mission Field

May 30, 2025 by Moore College

The Principal, Mark Thompson, announced today that Simon Gillham, the Vice Principal, and his wife Margie, have been accepted to serve again as missionaries with the Church Missionary Society from 2026.

Simon joined the Faculty in 2016 and was appointed Vice Principal in 2020. Before they returned to Moore, they had been serving in the Namibia Evangelical Theological Seminary. Prior to that, they had been involved in church planting in the Newcastle area.

“I have genuinely mixed emotions in making this announcement”, Dr Thompson said.

“Simon has been a truly extraordinary member of the Faculty and an excellent Vice Principal. I give great thanks to God for the friendship and Christian partnership we have enjoyed, especially over the past five years. Yet I know that his heart is in Africa and he has been somewhat restless with anticipation of the day he could return there. We will certainly miss Simon and Margie but we rejoice in confidence that they will make an excellent contribution to the worldwide spread of the gospel through their work in Africa.”

The College will farewell Simon and Margie at the end of the year.

Stuart Pearson

May 22, 2025 by Moore College

Graduated 1995.

Stuart Pearson didn’t follow the typical path to ministry—he was a tradesman who hadn’t been to university before attending Moore College in the 1990s. But over the next two decades, Stuart faithfully shepherded St Luke’s Liverpool, helping it grow into a vibrant, multicultural church with a thriving children’s and youth ministry. Even after a stroke forced early retirement, Stuart continues to preach God’s Word and encourage pastors. His story is a testimony to God’s grace, perseverance, and the power of long-term ministry.
