Chef

  • Permanent full-time opportunity (38 hours per week) based in Newtown

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Chef to join our Kitchen team on permanent full-time basis.

Reporting to the Head Chef, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing meals for the College’s students, staff and guests as per the menu
  • Preparing ingredients and cooking with a range of utensils and equipment
  • Ensuring that food served is as per the correct HAACP guidelines (incl. completing necessary paperwork)
  • Assisting in cleaning and keeping a sanitised and orderly kitchen environment
  • Storing and monitoring stock
  • Contributing to continuous improvement in kitchen operations

This position is for 38 hours per week. The successful candidate would be required to work from Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 3:30pm according to their rostered shift. The ability to work afternoon shifts or for evening or weekend events may be required on occasion.

About you

The successful candidate will value teamwork and be adaptable to change, contributing to a diverse, friendly and experienced team within a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will meet the following essential selection criteria:

  • Qualification in commercial cookery
  • Proven experience as a chef in a commercial cooking environment, including understanding of various cooking techniques, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of and contribute to a diverse, multicultural team
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of HACCP and Food Safety
  • Ability to safely lift loads up to 10kg
  • Passion for and creativity in cooking
  • Ability to support and promote the Christian Vision, Mission and Values of Moore Theological College
