Dr Philip Kern

Head of New Testament
New Testament

Qualifications: BS (EBC), MA, MDiv (TEDS), PhD (Sheffield)

My wife and I, and our two children (Alexandra and Philip Stephen) came to Australia as missionaries in 1995, and have been at Moore College since 1998. While at Moore, Eliot and James joined the family. Alex lives in the US and Philip S in Brisbane. Eliot attends USyd, and James Trinity Grammar. Amy, James and I go to Abbotsford Presbyterian Church, where I teach the high school group. I enjoy motorcycle tours, especially in the Victorian High Country, and like them best when Amy comes along. I also enjoy riding my bicycle at Centennial park or my MTB on trails to the south of Sydney. Family activity revolves around the boys’ basketball, volleyball, and baseball. I love to read, especially things to do with history or economics. The highlight of our year is attending CMS Summer School, where we as a family hear about missions, catch up with friends, and get good Bible teaching.

Family: Phillip is married to Amy, and they have four children.

Research interests: include John’s Gospel, Galatians, and biblical narratives.
